Our family of 4 was in Ludington to visit family. Our cottage accommodations were just what we needed - clean, comfortable, great location. The outdoor deck and fire pit were a bonus. We will be back!

This is a great location. The home is definitely cute and cozy with most amenities that you will need. It is a walk to the beach. You will drive to the heart of Ludington most of the time. The only amenity it does not have is a washer and dryer. This was the third year in a row we rented this home. We check other places out each year and this one seems to be the best every year.

We stayed in the cute cottage with our two kids. While space was not abundant, we had everything we needed and it was very clean and close to the beach and walking to shops, restaurants, etc. The beds were not the most comfortable and I could have used a small hair dryer, but otherwise things were great. We used the firepit with the neighboring house renters for s'mores 2 nights we were there - the free firewood and fire pits were a nice touch. Very good location and clean cottage. It's not a luxury place, but it's quaint and clean with great location.

We so enjoyed our getaway to Ludington! This little house was just right for our family of five. Just a few blocks from the beach, it is an easy walk to the lake... Walking distance to Waterfront Park too. It was clean and had the bare necessities for cooking. We enjoyed making a fire out back and having s’mores. It is also very close to the beautiful Ludington State Park. Overall, such a great location and a very nice little home!

We found this recently updated property to be well appointed, cozy and comfortable for four guests. It is within easy walking distance to the beach and in a quiet neighborhood. We did find it a little awkward for the guest sleeping in the living room as access to the only bathroom is through the bedrooms. Other than that, we were happy there!

This is the second time we have rented this home. We also rented the home next to it. We vacation with a total of 7 families and try to rent close to one another. The backyard is spacious and provided a great place for all the families to gather for meals and games. Well stocked and close to the beach. Property manager is very responsive to questions. Will rent again.

This is our second time staying at this property and we love it! It’s clean and the main rooms are spacious. We love it’s only a 2 block walk to the beach and only a few blocks walk to downtown shopping and restaurants. The backyard is a great place to play games and relax.

Two blocks from the city beach and easy biking distance to everything in downtown Ludington.

The home had nice, comfortable furnishings and lots of thoughtful touches (grill accessory for the fire pit, caddies for the upper bunk beds, board games and puzzles for rainy days, etc.) Also, very easy checkout procedure with basic clean up.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the home to others and potentially return.

I offer the following small tips to the owner/manager for the future: we had to purchase a cookie sheet, ice cube trays, and a good scrubby sponge for doing dishes (the soft sponge that was provided didn't get the dishes clean). Also, just a few more dish towels would have been nice (3-year-olds are messy). I also would have preferred a queen mattress in one of the rooms. But those are very minor concerns. Just food for thought. Overall, it was a great place.

I found the house to be very clean which was a huge plus during the pandemic. The beds were comfortable but small (double beds). House is in a quiet neighborhood. We used it as a jumping off point to drive the M-22 and visit Sleeping Bear Dunes and the Ludington State Park.

We really enjoyed this place. The bedding was very comfortable. The couch was clean and also comfortable. The house was very clean. The kitchen is a pretty good size. The neighborhood was pretty. Just a couple blocks from the beach and also close enough to downtown to ride bikes. The kids park/ boat docks were close. Overall a perfect location and comfortable house. We would stay here again! No laundry is one downside which can be a pain if you’re staying longer than a few nights. Front porch windows didn’t lock and Inside door didn’t lock.

The house was much roomier than the pictures show. Cute and clean. The location was perfection, as we walked everywhere and the weather was absolutely beautiful. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Will definitely come again to this gem.

Stayed for a long weekend in Ludington. Found the property as described. Was clean, well stocked, great location in close walking distance to beach. Management was responsive and refunded deposit very quickly. Would highly recommend.

We loved staying at this home located 2 blocks from Stearns Park Beach in Ludington. A short walk to swim, visit the pier, or eat downtown. The home has a nice shady backyard, a big dining room, and 3 bedrooms (one has a curtain rather than a door to close it off from the rest of the house). The bedrooms are small but the beds were comfortable. We fixed several simple meals in the kitchen and ate lots of picnics at the beach during our stay. Cable and wifi worked well and the air conditioning was welcome on humid nights. Property managers were easy to reach and provided helpful communication before and during our stay.

We are repeat customers for this property. There were some nice improvements this year; new kitchen appliances. Floor plan is very accommodating. Air conditioners make sleeping comfortable. The deck is very pleasant all day long with some shade and some sun. Short walk to get ice cream treats.

Our 3ed year here. As always, we had a wonderful time. It fits our family well. The only down side is the condition of the dock. It's showing its age, it's unstable in the center platform also has some broken boards. Something that should be addressed.

Cottage was very adequate for our needs. Extremely well equipped. Great location on the lake. Within walking distance to icecream. Clean and neat.

We had a large group of 13 and place had plenty of space and beds. Everybody liked the place. Location was perfect and easy to find.
Kitchen was well stocked. There was 4 bathrooms which was perfect for a large group.

We have rented on Big Star Lake for many years, over 30, and I can say this has been the best. There are 8 of us and there is plenty of room for everybody comfortably. Everything is there with the exception of food. For us the weather was great but even if it hadn't been we would have been very comfortable inside. I can't give a more positive review. My only hesitation is that it may not be available next year.

Perfect summer cottage experience for our family. The house was very clean and well stocked. Plenty of space and comfortable sleeping arrangements for all of us. The location on the lake and beach area were great, and we couldn’t have enjoyed our stay more!

Loved the location in the smaller bay for boating, tubing and swimming. Cottage came with a lot of water toys. Grandkids could walk and get ice cream cones. Great for biking and running around the lake. Sleeping arrangements worked out well for a big group. Cottage was clean and well maintained.

We really enjoyed this house overall. A nice cabin like stay. The main floor was nice, but needed to be vacuumed. The basement was very musty and warm. I would suggest a coffee pot that shuts itself off as when I went to make coffee the next morning it was still on. The house overall was comfy with good wind blowing through. Fantastic view.

This is the eighth year for our family to take a week-long group vacation with a group of 8 adults, four kids, and this year we had dogs that joined in the fun as well! The property is large (I think 8 acres?) which was wonderful for our active family . The large open meadow provided a great space for our silly games and kickball. There is a .5 mile beautiful marked trail through the woods that was a much -loved activity. There is ample parking, access to a small beach on Portage lake and it is an easy drive to Lake Michigan beaches, including dog-friendly beaches. There is one bedroom/bath that is detached (garage conversion) that worked out really well for our family. There was plenty of gathering space in the main room and on the large porch facing the lake. A large dining table was put to good use at night as we played a wide variety of games (our age ranges were 5-68) Our one question about trash pick up was quickly answered. The reservation process was easy, and I did end up talking to the office three times with questions--and they were very patient! Everyone voted a big 'yes' when asked if this was a place we'd like to visit again.

Great Portage Lake views from the back deck. Lot's of sleeping space for large groups worked out well, including the separate bedroom in the detached garage. Overall, the house is in good shape though there is no central AC, so it can be humid sometimes depending on the weather, but unless it's really humid outside it stays very cool in the house with the windows open. The basement sleeping area is damp and had a dehumidifier running most of the time we were there. The neighborhood is quiet with a short trail right off the front yard of the house. It is a great rental if you have a dog, though if they chase squirrels, rabbits, or deer, keep an eye on them!

We had one issue. It was a big issue but the property management team respond so quickly to the problem that I do not go into any more details. Once the problem was corrected we had a wonderful time at the property. The house has a beautiful back desk and is very spacious. The room were comfortable and each bathroom had a shower. My only small complaint was we could not get the TV to work in the basement. But the TV in the main living space worked fine. The beach access is not directly on the property. You have to go across the street to access it. But is nice and a great place to swim. They provide chairs too which is very nice. Overall it was a great place to stay.

Great location with plenty of room for our extended family of 9. Used the kitchen for all of our meals without any issues. We liked that the furnishings were comfortable instead of fancy and that we could bring the dog. The beach on Portage Lake was a short walk and Lake Michigan a short drive. Plenty of places to hike, bike and kayak. We had a great week in spite of the rain.

We had a wonderful stay in Portage Lake area. House is fantastic for large groups. No beach area when we were there but plenty to do in the area.

The location was nice and quite with a great view. The floor plan of the house is great but the furniture and beds need to be updated. Beds were very uncomfortable.Spent most of our stay to the south of the home fun day at the beach in Ludington as there was no beach at the house due to the high water.

The Carroll Lake House suited our needs. We are a family of 11 members and three dogs. There was plenty of space for sleeping and eating plus two decks with view of Portage Lake. The house had older furnishings and unique personal decor. The one unusual couch by the fireplace could be cleaned or refinished.
The kitchen was well supplied with dishes, pans etc but had only one towel, one cleaning cloth and two hand made potholders. This could be easily added too.
We went to the beach on the other side of Portage Lake-very nice. Also would recommend visiting the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes and the Arcadia Marsh walk. The store in town was handy with much of what we needed. Meijer store in Manistee was pretty amazing.
Yes, I would recommend this property with the recommendation that the owner/manager add more to the kitchen and bathroom supplies. Paper products/kithchen towels-potholders-etc.

The house was clean and fun! We spent the day at the public beach which was family friendly. The layout of the house is great for our large group. HomeAway had very poor communication.

We were pleased with our stay. We we’re secluded enough to feel private but not far from areas to get things we needed. The walking path was well marked and enjoyable. We had fun on the lake and really enjoyed the 4th of July parade in Manistee. The house was well stocked and provided everything we needed for a great family vacation.

My friends and I settled here for a weekend away with a couple of kids. We really enjoyed the large yard, decks, and access to the beach in portage. In addition, the closeness to Lake Michigan was a plus. The house was a little older looking, but clean.

We were very happy with the house, the location, loved Portage Lake and being so close to Lake Michigan... House was very nice!!
