The Sycamore Nest

Multiple windows in house should not be opened because screens were either missing or torn. There was not a toaster in the kitchen, which surprised me. The pots in the kitchen were dirty and had to be soaked to get them clean. Also there was not a skillet. There is some mold in the shower stall. The surrounding houses were in a dilapidated state with multiple tenants, and made us feel uncomfortable.

Relatively good value for a last-minute booking; convenient to downtown Manistee and First Street Beach; easy check-in but overly complicated reservation process with extra forms to fill out. Over-use of air fresheners; hard surfaces were very clean but older carpet and upholstery not optimally clean. Capacity to sleep 4 but only 2 chairs at the table in small kitchen. We were 3 adults; brought one chair in from bedroom desk but it was very cramped and could not move around in kitchen. No counter/surface in bathroom for toiletries. No outdoor seating area (we used our own folding chairs on the small front porch). This is OK as a place to crash if the weather is good and you can be out and about the rest of the time. View is of the house across the street in a fascinating, eclectic old Manistee neighborhood. Very much appreciated laundry facilities in basement.

The neighborhood was quiet and an easy walk to downtown. The mattresses were old and uncomfortable and the pillows too. All need replacing. The bathroom door doesn’t shut very easily. Bathroom could use a small cabinet as sink is a pedestal so no room to set anything. Shower needs a new squeegee if you want people to use it

Great little place and convenient location. We stayed for 4 nights over the weekend leading up to the 4th of July. It’s really close to the river walk and only a mile from the main beach so we walked to a lot of places. Our little 6 lb dog also felt right at home. We had never been to Manistee and really enjoyed adventuring about. This house location was perfect.
